Democracy on TrackS (DOTS)

Five seats, one ten-day, fully funded rail journey from Berlin to Strasbourg — visiting the Bundestag, the European Commission, the Court of Justice and the European Parliament along the way. Open to young people aged 18–21 legally resident in Germany. No CV, no portfolio — just curiosity and a willingness to document the journey.

About the project

Learning by moving

DOTS takes five young people on a real institutional tour of European democracy — not a classroom, the actual buildings where it happens. Over ten days by rail from Berlin to Strasbourg, participants visit the Bundestag, the European Commission, the Court of Justice and the European Parliament, meeting the people and processes behind them directly.

There's no CV or portfolio to get in — just curiosity and a willingness to document the journey as you go, which becomes the project's own record of what participants took away from it.

Methodology

DOTS is built on non-formal, experience-first learning: direct site visits and encounters with real institutions, in place of lectures about them, combined with participant-led documentation (photos, journals, media) that turns lived experience into a shareable output. See the network-wide Methodology & Dissemination page for how this fits alongside our other projects.
